- Electrical Artificer 3rd Class James William Furlong, HM Submarine Snapper, Royal Navy. Lived at 3 Knoll Cottages, Wilmington, Dartford. Died at the age of 26. His official date of death is 12.2.41 although this is just the date on which HM Submarine Snapper failed to rendezvous with HMS La Capricieuse as planned. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial and on the Wilmington War Memorial.
