- Sergeant (Flight Engineer) Terence Edward Hardy, 61 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. His parents lived at 21 Herbert Road, Swanscombe. Died 19.7.44, aged 21, when his Lancaster bomber crashed in France. Buried in Marcilly Communal Cemetery, France, and commemorated on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
