- Sergeant Ronald Arthur Hart, 101 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He had grown up locally and his parents still lived at 5 Watchgate, Lane End. Died 21.1.44, aged 21, when his Lancaster bomber was lost during a raid on Berlin. Commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial and on the Darenth Church Memorial Tablet.
