- Private John Hayward, 5th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. Believed to have lived in Swanscombe. Died 6.10.44, aged 22, cause unknown. Commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial, Netherlands, and on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
