- Corporal Edward William Hodge, 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry, Royal Armoured Corps. He had grown up in Swanscombe and his parents still lived at 64 High Street. Died 24.9.44, aged 28, when his tank was hit on a reconnaissance mission from Deurne towards Bakel, Netherlands. Buried in Nederweert War Cemetery, Netherlands.
