- Sub-Lieutenant Kenneth Louis John Holmes, HM Landing Craft Tank (R) 457, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He had lived with his parents at 33 Maple Road, Dartford, prior to his marriage. Died 5.11.44, aged 27, when his ship, HMS LCT 457, hit a mine and sank in the North Sea. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
