- Second Lieutenant Ronald Arthur Jeffries, 2nd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. His parents lived in Bexley but he attended Dartford Grammar School 1924-28. Died 17.9.40, aged 28, when the Blenheim bomber from which he was observing south coast beach defences suffered starboard engine failure and crashed while attempting a forced landing. Buried in St Mary’s Churchyard, Bexley, and commemorated on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
