- Sergeant Sidney Arthur Ancell, 464 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived in Bexley but attended Dartford Grammar School 1934-39. Died 8.3.45, aged about 22, when his Mosquito fighter-bomber was shot down over the Rhine while bombing and strafing rail and road targets ahead of the American advance. Buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany, and commemorated on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
