- Sergeant Peter David Johnson, 20 Flight, B Squadron, Glider Pilot Regiment, Army Air Corps. He had grown up in Dartford and his parents still lived at 13 Brent Close. Died 19.9.44, aged 19, killed in action on the outskirts of Arnhem after co-piloting a Horsa glider as part of Operation Market Garden. Commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial, Netherlands, and in St Edmund’s Pleasance, Dartford. Brother of Arthur William Johnson who died 8.5.43.
