- Captain Edgar Reginald Harrison Kemp, SS Rotorua, Merchant Navy. Lived at 143 Shepherds Lane, Dartford. Died 11.12.40, aged 49, when SS Rotorua was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat off the Outer Hebrides. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial and on the Horton Kirby Roll of Honour Tablet in St Mary’s Church.
