- Pilot Officer (Air Gunner) Harold Frederic Archdale Lees, 9 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived at 22 Summerhill Road, Dartford. Died 20.7.40, aged 32, when his Wellington bomber crashed during a raid on Wismar on the Baltic coast. Buried in Kiel War Cemetery, Germany, and commemorated on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
