- Leading Signalman Charles Alfred Mills, HMS Hurworth, Royal Navy. He had grown up in Dartford and his parents still lived at 39 Bullace Lane. Died 22.10.43, aged 21, when HMS Hurworth was sunk by a German mine in the Aegean Sea. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
