- Able Seaman Charles James Milway, HMS Vimiera, Royal Navy. Listed under ‘Galley Hill’ in the Greenhithe and Swanscombe British Legion Remembrance book but his wife gave her address as Belvedere. Died 9.1.42, aged 23, when HMS Vimiera hit a mine in the Thames Estuary and sank. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
