- Private Ernest Elijah Porter, 5th Battalion, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). Presumably lived with his mother at 20 Milton Street, Swanscombe, prior to his marriage. Died 8.4.43, aged 28, killed on active service in North Africa. Buried in Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia, and commemorated on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
