- Mate James Francis Prentice, SS Audacity, Merchant Navy. Lived at 90 High Street, Greenhithe. Died 1.3.42, aged 30, when SS Audacity hit a mine south of the Humber light vessel. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial and on the Greenhithe War Memorial.
