- Petty Officer Stoker George Charles Rayfield, HMS Leander, Royal Navy. Lived at Stocks Bungalow/The Stocks, Longfield Hill. Died 21.7.45, aged 40, from acute meningitis at the US Naval Hospital Chelsea, Boston, Massachusetts, as a result of a fractured skull following a fall. Buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Massachusetts, USA, and commemorated on the Longfield War Memorial. Brother of Alfred Rayfield who died 14.2.42.
