- Engine Room Artificer 5th Class Donald Arthur Ross, HMS Anking, Royal Navy. Lived at 2 Chave Road, Wilmington, Dartford. Died 4.3.42, aged 20, when HMS Anking was sunk by gunfire from Japanese cruisers while travelling from Java to Fremantle, Australia. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
