Introduction
Flight Sgt (Wireless Op./Air Gunner) John Henry Charles Ross, 635 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He had grown up locally and his parents still lived at 133 Willow Road, Dartford. Died 13.8.44, aged 21, when his Lancaster was shot down by a German night fighter during a raid on the Opel works at Russelsheim, deep in southern Germany, which was thought to be manufacturing wings for V1s. Buried in Hotton War Cemetery, Belgium.
