- Flight Lieutenant (Pilot Instructor) Donald James Rowe, 16 Operational Training Unit, Royal Air Force. His parents lived in Barnehurst and his wife in Hildenborough but he attended Dartford Grammar School 1934-38. Died 13.11.45, aged 23, when the Mosquito fighter-bomber piloted by his student hit a farmhouse near RAF Barford St John, Oxfordshire during single-engined training. Buried in St John’s Churchyard, Hildenborough, and commemorated on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
