- Flight Sergeant Lawrence Lloyd Ruddock, 292 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He had lived with his mother at 35 Waldeck Road until his marriage when he and his new wife moved into a flat above 69 Carrington Road. Died 13.10.44, aged 23, when his Warwick air-sea rescue aircraft suffered engine failure near Cox’s Bazar over the Bay of Bengal and ditched into the sea. Commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.
