- Sgt (Wireless Op./Air Gunner) Frederick Charles Thorogood, 226 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived at 22 Milton Street, Swanscombe. Died 19.7.42, aged 26, when his Boston bomber came down in the North Sea during a mission to Mazingarbe, France. Buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France, and commemorated on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe .
