Introduction
Arthur Douglas Backhauser of 220 Princes Road, Dartford. Died of wounds at County (West Hill) Hospital, Dartford, on 16.6.44, aged 30, having been injured at home earlier that day in a V1 flying bomb incident. He was a lieutenant in the Mobile Column, 24th Battalion, Home Guard. Buried in Watling Street Cemetery, Dartford, and commemorated on the Civilian War Memorial, Watling Street Cemetery, Dartford.
