- Private Wesley John Charles Saker, 5th Battalion, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). His parents lived at 45 Highfield Road, Dartford. Died 27.8.43, aged 19, after having been wounded and captured in Sicily and taken to hospital in Lucca, Italy. Buried in Florence War Cemetery, Italy and commemorated on the memorial plaque in the Methodist Church, Spital Street.
