- Pilot Officer William Edward Heaton Barty, 429 ‘Bison’ Squadron (RCAF), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Lived at 24 Russell Place, Sutton-at-Hone. Died 6.12.44, aged 29, when his Halifax bomber was lost without trace during a raid on Osnabrück. Commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial and on the Sutton-at-Hone War Memorial.
