- Ordinary Signalman Leonard George Nathan Bobby, HMS Charybdis, Royal Navy. Lived at 26 High Street, Galley Hill (now High Street, Swanscombe). Died 23.10.43, aged 19, when HMS Charybdis was sunk during the Battle of Sept-Ȋles in the English Channel. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial and on the Roll of Honour at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Swanscombe.
