- Squadron Leader (Pilot) Frederick Harold Bowden, DFC and Bar, 428 (RCAF) Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Attended Dartford Grammar School 1931-33. Died 10.7.43, aged 24, when the Halifax bomber he was piloting was shot down during a raid on Gelsenkirchen. Buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, and commemorated on the Dartford Grammar School In Memoriam Panel.
