- Sergeant (Air Gunner) Derek Walter (‘Dick’ or ‘Dicky’) Brough, 9 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He had grown up in Dartford and his parents still lived at 8 Bedford Road. Died 15.6.43, aged 20, when his Lancaster bomber was shot down during a raid on Oberhausen.
