Planning for the future
We are working on a plan for future of the town centre.
This will deliver a more attractive town to visit, and to live, work and shop in. It will illustrate our clear ambitions for the transformation of many parts of the town centre, and promote new infrastructure and investment. The strategy will lead to specific new requirements for better designed and high quality new developments.
Dartford town centre has a range of attractions and opportunities for the future
The study will help deliver changes set out for the town centre in Dartford’s Local Plan to 2037, including:
- To grow residential communities with a choice of housing for young and old- boosting the town centre economy, spending and local vitality, and supporting a 24 hour sense of security.
- To secure land and funding for new community facilities, serving the new and existing neighbourhoods.
- To provide street, public realm and green space improvements; and upgraded cycling and walking routes.
- To plan modern public transport facilities, and better interchanges, and updating access and vehicle parking strategy.
- To grow the town centre cultural/ leisure offer further, with the Orchard Theatre helping promote the town’s arts and creative activities.
