Assessment and timescales
Risk assessments comprise of two main elements:
- A DASH risk assessment to understand the level of risk posed to the victim or survivor from the perpetrator. The assessment will either have been completed by the referring agency, another agency, or by the Council’s Housing Service.
- An assessment of the property suitability for sanctuary measures.
Within three working days of the referral, a Senior Repairs Surveyor from the Housing Service will carry out an assessment in the form of an inspection at the victim’s property to establish its suitability for sanctuary measures and what additional security is required. The Council may also make a referral to Kent Fire & Rescue Service to attend to look at fire safety issues.
Once the inspection is complete, the Senior Repairs Surveyor will forward their recommendations for the arrangements of the works to be carried out within 24 hours of receiving the assessment back. The timescales for the completion of the works should be according to contractor timescales, however in some cases this may need to be treated as an emergency.
The details of each case are then recorded onto a central log to assist in monitoring the use and impact of the scheme
