About the fund
A new fund has been launched by Dartford Borough Council and Kent Community Foundation to support community groups in Dartford.
Funding for the new Dartford Borough Council Community Infrastructure Fund has been made available through Dartford’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
The initiative supports community and voluntary groups operating across the unparished Dartford area– covering the west and north of the Borough, including Dartford town and surrounding neighbourhoods, as highlighted in the image below.
The new Dartford Borough Council Community Infrastructure Fund will award grants of up to £10,000 to support both revenue and capital costs.
Targeted projects include:
- Community facilities and public spaces
- Play spaces
- Arts and cultural activities
- Environmental improvements
- Healthy community activities
- Community learning

Is my project eligible?
Most projects proposed by community organisations focus on the local neighbourhood.
Any available neighbourhood CIL funding for them will depend upon where they are based.
- CIL funds from a development are passed by Dartford Borough Council to the local town/parish council if there is one in that area. They then decide on projects in their area. (Note if there has been no CIL liable development, then no funds will be available. This is the case in Ebbsfleet).
- For other areas, The Dartford Borough Council Community Infrastructure Fund is available using Dartford's neighbourhood CIL.
Other infrastructure proposals - particularly for major projects demonstrating strategic benefits Borough-wide - may be considered for a CIL allocation where guided by agreed policies and priorities (such as Dartford's IDP).
